Lionel Ziblat was born in 1972 in Buenos Aires and grew up in Israel. Hel now lives in The Netherlands where he composes and arranges music for different chamber ensembles and orchestra’s. In recent years Lionel has been writing and producing music for different films and t.v. productions in the Netherlands and worldwide. Composing for film and for his band - Modest Midget - he combines his love for Classical music with his affinity with Rock, Jazz and other folklore styles.

His mother was a classicaly educated pianist and his father was a member of 'Los Jets', an Argentinean rock'n'roll band from the sixties. He grew up loving both hooks, placing him at home in almost any possible musical scenario. Whenever the need arises to combine styles, he can easily arrange almost any piece of music for almost any thinkable ensemble.

He has composed, arranged and produced music for among others Holland Symfonia (The Dutch Opera & Ballet Orchestra), Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (The Dutch Wind Ensemble), Jong NBE, Argentinean singer & producer Mavi Díaz, The Dutch Flute Orchestra, The Leo Smit Foundation, fluitist Eleonore Pameijer, The Argentinean duo Lerner & Moguilevsky, Los Hermanos Butaca and he orchestrated essential parts of Poznansky's score for Joseph Cedar’s feature film Footnote (which was nominated for an Oscar in 2012 and has won the prize for the best script during the 2011 Cannes Festival).

As already mentioned above, Lionel has lead and performed with his own made eclectic band Modest Midget, producing a debut cd which is seen by many as one of the best Prog-Rock albums of 2010.

He completed his 2nd phase (MA) study of classical composition with Henk Alkema, has studied Jazz guitar with Eef Albers, and studied Orchestral Conducting with Danny Oosterman, following workshops for conducting, composing and Jazz music led by artists like Krzysztof Penderecki, Jurjen Hempel & Hein van de Geyn.
