Rebecca "BECCA" Emily Hollcraft (born May 9, 1989) is an American singer/songwriter and guitarist. Also known as Bec Hollcraft and BECCA-chan. As of 2012 she is currently the singer of the rock band Stars in Stereo.
Hollcraft was born in Portland, Oregon. She began singing and writing songs at a young age and started playing guitar when she was 10 years old. During her school years she was very active in choir and acting. When she was 13 a family friend had recorded her at a choir event in school. The tape found its way to Meredith Brooks who had been looking for a new artist to develop. "Bec has a powerhouse voice, and when I realized she could write songs too… I was sold,” said Meredith.
With the support of her parents, Hollcraft spent her summer vacation that year in Los Angeles with Meredith working on songs for her demos. Hollcraft caught the attention of radio programmers in her hometown of Portland. After some airplay on local specialty shows, Hollcraft was added into full-time rotation. Hollcraft was also covered by local television stations, featured in The Oregonian, and was the cover story in Two Louies, Portland’s premiere music magazine. She began performing around Los Angeles under the name Bec Hollcraft, playing at clubs such as The Roxy, Troubadour, Key Club, Knitting Factory, and the House of Blues with a full band. She also performed smaller acoustic shows at places like The Derby, and The Rainbow Room.
In early 2008, Hollcraft signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and released her single "Perfect Me" on April 9, 2008 in Japan. The song was featured on the TV show "Damages" in its Japanese release from April 2, 2008 to June 1, 2008. BECCA's debut 5-song EP "Perfect Me" was released in Japan on June 4, 2008 with a second 5-song EP "Turn to Stone" released August 6, 2008. . Starting July 1, 2008 BECCA's songs "Falling Down" and "Guilty Pleasure" will be featured as the title and theme songs of the animated series "Ultraviolet: Code 044." BECCA also contributed a cover of "I Drove All Night" to a Cyndi Lauper tribute album that was released July 23, 2008. BECCA played both dates of the 2008 Summer Sonic festival in Osaka and Tokyo.
During the summer 2010, BECCA has joined the Vans Warped Tour to give concerts all across USA and Canada.
In 2012 she announced she is the current singer of Los Angeles-based rock band Stars in Stereo She will be on tour from May 2012 through the end of the year with The Used, Foxxy Shazzam, Blue October, and Dead Sara.
Hollcraft's debut full length album "Alive!!" was released on November 5, 2008. "I'm Alive" is the first single and was released on September 23, 2008 with a video. The video features various actors like a body builder, cheerleaders, BMX biker and a contortionist. It also features her playing live with a band in a mostly white room and features lots of color on her, the band, and other objects to contrast the white. Two versions of the album were released; a basic audio one with 13 audio tracks and a deluxe CD/DVD combo with the same 13 audio tracks and a second DVD with all three of her music videos and an animated video for "Guilty Pleasure" with the "Ultraviolet: Code 044" characters. Both of the versions feature the Roy Orbison cover song "I Drove All Night" which she contributed to the "We Love Cyndi Lauper" tribute album in July 2008.
"I'm Alive" was featured in the Japanese anime "Kuroshitsuji" (Black Butler) as its first ending theme.
On October 22 the single for "I'm Alive!" was released with a bonus b-side track called "Alone" which is a cover of the song by popular 80s band Heart. "I'm Alive!" was featured on iTunes USA to coincide with her performance in Baltimore for Otakon.
On September 29, 2009, BECCA released her first US debut with a five song EP titled "Kickin' & Screamin'" through Sony's label "Red" which will come with the songs: "I'm Alive", "Guilty Pleasure", "Kickin & Screamin'", "Lose You Now" and a bonus music video. Her debut full-length album "ALIVE" was released in the US on March 2, 2010 however it reflected the original Japanese release date of November 5, 2008 and featured the additional track "Shibuya" and new cover art. The release date has since been corrected.
