传记 : Over The Effect

Over The Effect is an alternative rock band from Atlanta GA. Rather than waste your time with a 100-page dissertation on how our music demonstrates the stylized influences of post-modern, progressive rock and punk/grunge fusion, blah, blah, blah…..we’ll let you listen for yourself. So, take a listen and we hope you enjoy. Some of our favorite flattering comparison bands: Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle, Rush, Failure, and HUM.

We released our self titled EP in July of 2012, after barely having been together for 3 months. We began regularly playing shows around the Atlanta area in August 2012, including Smith’s Old Bar, the Masquerade, and the Drunken Unicorn, and recorded and released a second EP titled "Clouds Make Shadows" in January 2013. Our third EP "Revolutionary Ink" was released April in 2013 followed by a fourth EP “In Plain View” in June 2013. Our fifth EP "Chromatic" will be released in December 2013. We really like writing and recording and adding more variation to our live shows. Some of our live shows have been 3 hours long.

The band brings together a unique blend of talents. Atlanta native Ashley Barker (vocals and guitars) has played in several bands and as an acoustic solo performer and is a song writing machine. Aaron Kamphuis (bassist and engineer) is a professionally trained audio engineer and producer and life long rock and roll junkie. Rob Nouryeh (percussion) has played in several Atlanta bands in the past, and brings and excellent sense of timing and rhythm to the band. The band records and produces all of their music themselves, and before Rob's arrival Aaron also did drums on several of the songs from 3rd EP and all of the drums for the 4th and 5th. We do all our own artwork, flyers, and album covers. While spending half of our practices chatting about early 90s grunge bands, we try to just play music that’s fun enough for the average person to enjoy but complex enough to gain the respect of other musicians...success would be maintaining a balance of both.
