Checkmate merupakan band indie yang mengusung aliran Hard Rock, Rock and Roll, dan Blues yang di dapat dari kiblat music semua pemain. Formasi Checkmate terbentuk karena pertemanan dan rasa persaudaraan setiap player dengan tujuan yang sama. Checkmate terbentuk pada tahun 2007 dan sempat berhenti awal tahun 2009, dan awal tahun 2011 CHECKMATE kembali datang meramaikan Musik Indie Surabaya Indonesia.
